Local
Dialogue is an award-winning consultancy providing liaison between developers
and planners and the local community. An important
part of their work is to prepare literature and organise meetings in order
to present proposed development plans to the public. One piece of software key
to
this task
is Arc en Ciel’s AddressList program which produces mailing lists
of residential and business addresses in the vicinity of a scheme.
Islington & Shoreditch Housing Association in North London
commissioned Local Dialogue to present to the public an affordable housing
development – Ashmount Close – which is a single street away from Arc en Ciel’s
offices.
Using AddressList, Local Dialogue was able to quickly and easily define a very specific area of consultation as shown in the polygon opposite. This area is bounded by major roads on all sides and represents a contiguous community. From this, an up-to-date and accurate spreadsheet of addresses for every stakeholder in the defined area was produced and used to inform both local residents and businesses of the proposals and to invite them to the consultation exhibitions and events.
It was essential for this project that every resident in the surrounding area was made aware of the proposals and throughout the consultation process no complaints were received from residents who’d failed to receive any communication: a complete success.
